Gorki Park, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Russia

Moscow's most famous green area, Gorki Park, celebrated its 90th birthday in 2018. In a week full of festivities celebrating the park's 90th anniversary, Russia's largest and most modern children's playground was opened on the grounds. Even before this event, there had been no shortage of equipment and exercise areas for climbing, swinging, sliding and romping around. But something bigger and more eye-catching was needed for the area right next to the Museum of Contemporary Art “Garage”, a glass building by Dutch star architect Rem Koolhaas.

In cooperation with AFA Moscow and Richter Spielgeräte GmbH, a very special playground has been created on a spacious site that appeals to young and old alike. In the water area, Nautilus Snails, Archimedes Screws, Water Pumps, Water Flooders and various options for damming and diverting the watercourse offer plenty of room for creative play. Sand can be transported, touched and explored in various ways with the Excavator and at the Mud Tables. On the Dance Chimes, the sense of hearing takes on a new meaning. Slides, a Whirlwind, a Roundabout and many other exciting pieces of equipment also ensure that there are plenty of opportunities for exercise.
