Apart from her play sculptures, Lissy Boesen has created a wide range of objects from the area of applied art. She created small sculptures for Stone-Art/Belgium and has been cooperating with Richter Spielgeräte since autumn 1999.
Ideas come to me while observing the creative play of children on statues, uprooted trees, large stones and similar objects. You can experience the way they start to climb almost automatically. They play "cops and robbers" or make believe the stones are a fortress. But places like these can be dangerous play places ─ there are many rough bits, sharp edges or protruding parts. So why not offer the children a concrete sculpture which gives them the opportunity to develop their powers of imagination and fulfil their desire to climb without running the risk of injuring themselves?
